Locations describe where things are. FacilityLane uses a hierarchical location structure — for example Site → Building → Floor → Room — so every work order, asset, and part can be pinned to a precise place.

The location hierarchy

Locations nest inside each other to mirror your real facilities. A typical structure:
Each location can have:
  • A name and place in the hierarchy (its parent location)
  • A site assignment — the top-level site it belongs to
  • An area code — a short identifier for labeling and quick reference

Where locations are used

Locations are referenced throughout the platform:
  • Work Orders — every work order records where the problem is, so technicians go to the right place.
  • Assets — assets live at a location, and asset lists can be filtered by it.
  • Inventory — parts are stocked at locations, with stock levels tracked per location.
  • User location scopes — users can be scoped to specific locations so they only see work relevant to their sites. See Teams & Users.
