Understand the four asset statuses in FacilityLane, when to change them, and how status feeds dashboards and reports.
Every asset in FacilityLane has a status that describes its current operating state. Keeping statuses accurate gives your whole team — from technicians to executives — a live picture of equipment health.
Operational → Needs Repair — a fault is reported, often alongside creating a work order.
Needs Repair → Under Maintenance — a technician begins work on the asset.
Under Maintenance → Operational — the repair is complete and verified.
Set Out of Service when an asset fails completely, is unsafe to operate, or is removed from service. Return it to Operational only after it is back in working order.
Do not leave assets in Under Maintenance after work is finished. Stale statuses distort availability metrics and can hide equipment that genuinely needs attention.
Update status from the mobile app while you are still at the equipment — it takes seconds and keeps dashboards trustworthy.
