Generate and print part labels, scan codes to open parts, and record parts used on work orders.
Every inventory item can carry a barcode and a QR code. Print them as bin or shelf labels so technicians can pull up a part in seconds with the mobile scanner.
In the identification section, generate a QR code or barcode for the part. If the part already has a manufacturer barcode, you can enter that value instead of generating a new one.

Print the label
Print the generated label and attach it to the storage bin, shelf, or the part packaging itself.
Label the storage location, not just the part — a bin label survives even when individual packages are consumed.
In the mobile app, open the scanner and point the camera at the label. FacilityLane recognizes QR, Code128, EAN-13, and UPC-A formats. Scanning an inventory code opens the part’s detail screen immediately, showing quantity on hand, location, and stock status.

See QR & Barcode Scanner for scanner details, including the torch toggle for dark storerooms.
Recording parts against a work order keeps stock counts accurate and feeds parts cost into the work order and cost reports.
1
Open the work order
On web or mobile, open the work order you are completing.
2
Add the part
Add a part to the work order — search by name or part number, or scan the part’s label to select it instantly.
3
Enter the quantity used
Enter how many units were consumed. FacilityLane deducts the quantity from stock and calculates the parts cost from the unit cost.
Adding a scanned part with quantity to a work order
Parts usage recorded on work orders is what powers stock alerts and reorder suggestions in Stock Levels & Alerts. Skipping this step means quantities drift from reality.
