Generate and print QR codes for your assets, and scan them with the mobile app to open assets or prefill work orders.
FacilityLane generates a unique QR code for every asset. Attach printed codes to your physical equipment so technicians can pull up the right asset — with its history, procedures, and meters — in one scan, instead of searching by name or tag number.
From the asset detail page, open the QR code view. Barcode identification is also supported for equipment already labeled with barcodes.
2
Print the label
Print the code at a size that scans reliably — at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) square for close-range scanning, larger for equipment scanned from a distance.

3
Attach it to the equipment
Place the label somewhere flat, clean, and visible. Avoid curved surfaces, areas that get hot or oily, and spots that will be blocked when panels are closed.
4
Test the scan
Scan the label with the mobile QR scanner to confirm it opens the correct asset before moving to the next one.
Use durable label stock (laminated or polyester labels) for industrial environments. Paper labels fade and peel quickly near heat, moisture, or chemicals.
Open the FacilityLane mobile app and tap the QR Scanner. Point the camera at the asset’s code. From the scan you can:
Open the asset — view details, status, maintenance history, meters, and attachments.
Create a work order — start a new work order with the asset and its location already prefilled, so reporting an issue takes seconds.

Scanning works with both QR codes generated by FacilityLane and existing barcodes recorded against the asset. NFC identification is also supported for tagged equipment.
Nothing changes for the label. The QR code points to the asset record, not its name or location, so scans keep working after edits.
Can tenants or occupants use QR codes to report issues?
Yes. Scanning a code and creating a prefilled work order is the fastest way for anyone to report a problem against the right equipment. See Work Orders for how requests are routed.
Do I need to generate codes manually?
No. FacilityLane generates a QR code automatically when an asset is created, including assets added via CSV import.
